A Federal Government
delegation led by Muhammed on the visit, noted that the government’s mediation in
the sector was responsible for the achievement of the Technical and Vocational
Education and Training programme in the state.
Well satisfied over
the projects on the ground, adding that it was a clear indication of the state
government’s readiness to hand over the institution to the Federal Government
for the commencement of academic activities.
He noted, “We are
here to see the facilities for the take-off of the new Federal College of
Education. We can see that most of the structures are already here. President
Muhammadu Buhari has given his word that the institution will take off this
October 2020.”
The inspection by the
team was to ascertain the level of preparedness of the institution ahead of the
planned commencement of academic activities scheduled for October 2020.
Governor Obaseki was
present in the institution in May 2020, reassuring that the Federal Government-
delegation would be visiting the state to inspect the state of the college.
The modification of the
university to a Federal College of Education was a fall out from the governor’s
meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on the
siting of one of the Federal Colleges of Education in the six geo-political zones
of the country in Edo.
