NANS message to FGN. states the negative effect of COVID-19 on students activities.
"Even if you reopened schools today, many Nigerian
students would find it difficult to resume normal academic activities due to
the effects already caused by Covid19
pandemic, which you are already aware as a Government.
So security wise, the rate of crimes will double up across
the country because many students will by all means want to be in school and as
such FG should get set for the aspirations of Nigerian students our position.
In the coming days, we would be addressing a press
conference calling the attention of Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR,
Minister of education and the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster and
social development to roll out palliatives plans to Nigerian students before
announcing resumption dates of schools across the country.
These palliatives include:
1. Declaration of free academic year to all Nigerian
students.
2. Provision for palliatives (food items) or extension of
the school feeding program to Nigerian students across all tertiary
institutions of learning in Nigeria.
3. Study allowances to students of tertiary
institutions."
